Shopping is for two male lovers expecting a child

"You tell me, Billie-Boy." she replied calmly, withdrawing her hand and shoving both of them into her jeans' pockets. "Though if it helps, fire is involved."

Wren nodded, all traces of amusement vanishing. Memories from a different angle flooded back. "And you tried to stop them." she agreed, her voice barely above a whisper. "I still need to thank you for that, so here goes." she took a deep breath and glanced over her shoulder at Ryland. "Listen to me, William: listen to me and please believe me when I tell you he's using you both, Mike especially. You're putting your reputation on the line to look after his heir." she explained, her voice now rushed and urgent.
She regained her composure quickly and tried not to glance at Ryland again. "That's all I can tell you, I'm sorry." she paused. "Go."

Wren nearly winced. "Go!" she hissed. She motioned quickly to Mike, before looking back at William. "He understands - you have to get out fo here! I'm risking enough as it is. If Ryland asks I introduced myself, mentioned something that brought back some memories for William and you left, okay? Please!" she begged, her voice lowered and frantic. "I'm risking enough now!"

Wren's eyes widened. "Are you trying to get me killed?!" she hissed, grabbing William's shoulders, though it was more fearfully than angrily. "I may have survived the burnings, but that doesn't mean you can try and get me hurt again!"

Wren hesitated, before glancing back at Mike and giving him a final apologetic look, and then smirking. "Coming, Carden?" she asked calmly, her cool, in-control facade back in place once more.
She started after William, not waiting for an answer.

Ryland read the sports section with a frown. "Hmmm." He could feel William approaching but decided not to acknowledge him yet.

Wren stood near the back, wondering if Ryland had managed to overhear anything. For the first time in nearly a hunred years she started praying to God again, hoping she'd manage to survive past this prayer.

"Nothing," Ryland folded up the newspaper carefully and set it down. "I just felt you were alone and wondered how you were." He smirked. "I won't try to take you away from your little boyfriend. Go have fun buying your female maternity clothes."

He stood. "And I see you've met Wren."

Ryland put a hand to the cheek William had slapped. "You actually hit me." He sounded more shocked than angry. "All this fucking time and you only hit me now? What changed, William?"

Ryland hissed at William, "You always were an insolent little bitch."

He calmed down and looked William over cooly, his eyes stopping at William's stomach region. "You really are pregnant. It's not a false alarm this time."
