The doctor smiled at Mike, walking over to pat his shoulder before turning back to William. He removed the already blood-soaked cloth, reaching over the bed to a table witht he proper material for stitches. He quickly began sewing the pieces of skin back together again, trying to fight against the blood. William's eyes remained closed; the only sign that he was alive was the oxygen mask moving slightly as he breathed.

Mike was glad tears blurred his vision; the sight of needles still horrified him. It made William seem like a lifeless doll. "I can't leave him for a single second..."

The doctor nodded, finishing hsi job with precision. He took one final look at the babies, making sure that they were all still alright. He backed away from William. "I want to keep him here for a few hours to keep track of how he's doing," he said calmly.

"A few hours?" Mike repeated. "The wedding is tomorrow and we're leaving in the morning. Don't keep him here longer than you need." He walked closer to William and took the boy's hand, before looking at the doctor again. "I can stay?"

The doctor nodded, turning to smile one last time before walking out with the nurses. William remained deathly still, the oxygen mask having to aid his already weak breathing. The needles were still everywhere, one sticking into the side of his stomach.

Mike pulled a chair and sat next to him, unsure if he could have stood much longer. He had always thought it was stupid to talk to unconscious persons, but he felt the need to do so. "I'm starting to wonder whether it's marriage or adoption," he whispered. "You're exhausting, you know that? But I love you."

The steady beeping noise of the heart monitoring device and the whoosh!-ing noise of the oxygen tank pumping air into William was the only reply William could manage to give. His eyes were still covered in crimson and his frail arms looked worse; all together he looked pathetic.

"I'm not proud," Mike said, and then added, "of myself. I can't even protect the man I love...protecting the city will be so much fun, I can feel it." He sighed, his thumb caressing the top of William's hand. "Thanks for hanging on."

As soon as Mike had spoken, the heart monitoring device skipped several beats, remaining silent for over a minute.

Mike closed his eyes and squeezed William's hand. You said you wouldn't. "Be alright, be alright..."

The machine slowly started beeping at a steady rate again. William's eyes fluttered open, their blood shot color revealing how tired and stressed he was. He looked over at Mike, his eyes half-lidded.

Mike inhaled deeply. His eyes met William's. "They're all fine," he managed to say before breaking down and crying.

William started crying softly as well. He squeezed Mike's hand very, very lightly; it was the most he could manage. Big, silent tears rolled down his cheeks and met with the oxygen mask.

Mike slowly regained his composure. He blinked a few times and managed a smile. "They want to keep you here for a few hours. I'll stay with you."

William shook his head slowly, reaching over to his oxygen mask and slowly moving it so that he could talk. "Y-you should go meet up with everyone e-else," he managed to whisper, his frail wrist shaking slightly.

Mike move over. "Start by putting that back on." He put the mask down and sat on his chair. "I'm certainly not going at Mikey's without you. Besides, I need to rest too."

William hated the fact that there were metal bars separating him from Mike. He reached for the guitarist's hand, holding it close. He looked exhausted and stressed.

Mike smiled again, as best as he could to show William everything was alright. "I should have asked for a leash as a wedding gift. No more leaving you alone."

William couldn't say anything. It was all my fault... He kept quiet, eyes looking into Mike's as the oxygen tank aided his still struggling breathing. His eyes looked around at all fo the various monitors that he was connected too. His eyes stopped as he noticed the ultrasound machine was still on. He looked at the spot where the doctor had left the device on; it was one of their children, its heart beating like it should.

Mike rested his chin the the metal barrrier that separated him from William. "He stabbed the egg," he told his boyfriend just like the doctor had. "It resisted and saved the other two. We were extremely lucky."

William looked over at Mike, a few tears filling in the corners of his eyes again. He looked back up at the screen, a lump forming in the back of his throat. He slowly reached for the device, moving it around over his stomach and checking on the other two.

Mike gently touched William's arm. "They're okay," he repeated. "You're the one who was hurt. I still don't get how it happened, but it doesn't matter as long as you're safe." He look at William's frail wrist, noticing the dark bruised that had formed from holding him down earlier.

William carefully layed the device down, looking over at Mike. He still had tears in his eyes. He managed to move himself over in the hospital bed, groaning quietly as he stretched his stitches. He moved closer to where Mike was.

"Don't move around too much," Mike instructed the boy. He ran his fingers on the bruise, as if it would erase it. "Never wander off without me again, alright?"

William nodded his head weakly, one of his hands still near Mike's. His free hand went instinctively to his stomach, petting over the stitches. He winced occasionally.
