The sun is shining and my best friend is pregnant.

Tears of anger fell down Mike's cheeks as he tried to struggle out of Mikey's grip. In a desperate attempt to free himself, he aimlessly fired twice, eyes closed, hoping he'd hit Mikey.

"Sisky's going to hate me," Butcher said to himself quietly, tears in his eyes now. He was half gone when he came across William and somebody he didn't know and backed up suddenly. "I need to get out of here."

Brad smiled slightly, glad he hadn't brought his wife out to Chicago after all.

William's voice became weak after yelling for Mike so many times. "Mike, please help me!" he yelled once more, unaware of what was happening outside. He stared down at Brad and whispered,"I'm so sorry..."

Mikey inhaled sharply and looked down at the bleeding hole in his chest. He stepped back instantly, sending his wings back into his body. Too tired to do anything else, he sank to his knees. Did it work?

Mike sank to his knees as well, a hand over the wound in his neck. The blood flew between his fingers, but he could feel his skin slowly scarring. He closed his eyes and sobbed quietly. "What's going to happen to me...?"

"Sorry Bill," Butcher turned and ran from the house, spreading his wings and flying away in no general direction.

Am I dying? Brad wondered as he lay unable to move or speak.

William began to worry about Mike. Oh god, what if something happened to him? William carefully lay Brad's head down. "It'll be okay. Just stay still. I have to go check on Mike. I-I'll be back soon," William said as he ran back through the house and out the door again, searching for Mike. When he found the guitarist, it was all he could do not to scream. Both Mike and Mikey were on their knees. William ran over to Mike and put his arms around the guitarist, afraid that he would have fallen over.

Mikey stared down at the wound in his chest. "You won't win." He rasped out. "I won't let you win." He felt blood rising in his mouth and retched.

Mike panted and ran a hand in William's hair. "I'll be okay." He gently pushed the singer away, feeling weak, and crawled up to Mikey. "Why don't you show me those pretty wings of yours?"

Butcher swooped back around and soared down to scoop Mikey up, hating himself the whole time. "He's never going to want me," He said to himself. "Not now." But he couldn't leave Mikey to die after he'd been so kind.

Brad lay there trying to listen but finding it increasingly difficult.

William sat on his knees, shaking as he watched the scene in front of him unfold. Mike... He was happy to see Mikey and Butcher leave, but he didn't know if Mike was going to be okay.

Mikey breathed a sigh of relief. "That was for my baby!" He screamed. "That was for Angel!" Then he collapsed in Butcher's arms, exhausted.

Mike couldn't reach him, not while he was in Butcher's arms. "See that, Andy? That's what I tried to keep you away from." He smiled sadly. "I'm sorry I couldn't do it. Best of luck to you from now on." He betrayed me. He's not better than any of them. He dropped his gun and cried, waiting for the Avians to leave.

"I'm sorry, Mike," Butcher choked back a sob and climbed higher into the sky towards the Avian sanctuary.

William slowly moved over to where Mike was and held the crying guitarist in his arms. "Mike...," he whispered as he held the other man. William bit his lip to stop hmself from crying. Mike...

Brad drifted out of consciousness.

Mike cupped William's cheek and kissed his lips, his nose, his eyelids. "Bill, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have gone, I shouldn't have fought..." He tried to catch his breath. It had been so long since the last time he had cried like that. "It's all over, all for nothing... You wanted to raise the baby away from this, but now I'm..." I'll be one of them soon.

William couldn't help it anymore. Tears started falling out of his eyes. "Shh," he said as he leaned forward and kissed Mike's lips again. "I-I still love you. I don't care what you are. You're still Mike. I still love you," he said quietly, the tears still falling from his eyes.

Mike pressed his forehead against William's. "Okay. We'll have to take care of eachother from now on," he said between sobs. "You'll have to help me with this Bill, I don't know if I can do it..."

William's tears mixed with Mike's as he cried harder. "You can. I'll help you every step of the way," he said as he held Mike tighter. "You've always been there for me, it's time that I'm here for you," he whispered, kissing Mike once more.

"Thank you..." He wrinkled his nose, feeling he was about to get a serious headache from crying so much. Slowly, he moved William away from him for a better look. "Are you okay? Did someone hurt you? I heard you scream..."

William slowly moved back, tears still falling from his eyes, his body still trembling. "I-It was Ryland. He broke in through the bedroom window and bit Brad," William gasped for air after speaking. "It's all my fault..." he stared at the ground. "He should have killed me when he had the chance," William sobbed. "This is all my fault...."
