William kept his eyes closed, the fake smile fading. He remained silent, biting his lip to hold back any emotion. He let go of Mike's hand, shivering at the loss of contact. He didn't know why it still made him upset to picture all of this. He felt bad, but he couldn't help it.

Mike hadn't properly looked at his boyfriend until he felt his hand slip. He looked down at William. He had believed his smile, thinking it had been honest and a proof that the boy was finally over it. "Oh, sorry, I thought you...yeah, I'll just shut up now."

William shrugged, trying his best to ignore the feeling as his eyes fluttered open. He moved his right wrist up to eyesight, pulling back the layers of sweater and the shirt. He stared at the scars on the now colored skin, almost smiling as he looked down at them.

Mike knew what William was looking at. Now that he was paying attention, he could see everything. He firmly gripped the boy's wrist and brutally lowered it to look in his eyes. "What were you thinking of just now?"

William's eyes widened slightly. "Just looking," he tried not to let any fear show. He tried to free his wrist but couldn't from the position he was in.

Mike lowered his voice from fear he'd be hear in the next room. "I didn't like that expression on your face. At all. What went through your mind?"

"I was just looking," William replied, propping himself up on his elbows once again, still trying to free his wrist but failed.

Panicked for some reason he couldn't quite grasp, Mike's only reflex was to pull William's arm upwards in one swift gesture. "What is it, some kind of sick fascination?"

William, losing the support of his right elbow, fell backwards in one motion, causing him to hiss as his back slammed into the ground. He frowned. "Let go," he said quietly, not wanting anyone else to hear.

Mike instantly obeyed when William lost his balance and fell. He rubbed his hands together and placed them on his own knees, looking straight ahead. "Didn't mean to."

William sighed, shaking his head as he balanced himself and stood up, still frowning. He walked off into the living room by himself.

Mike sighed, a hand to his forehead. "Good job, Mike. Delicate. Very nice." He waited a moment before standing up and following his boyfriend.

William sat down on one end of the couch, still frowning. He grabbed a pillow and held onto it, avoiding the eyes of his fiance as the guitarist entered the room.

Mike sat on a couch on the opposite side of the room. "You look like a kid. Just give me a sign when you decide to act like a responsible adult."

William got up again, making his way over to the stairs. He walked up at a steady pace, still frowning. He knew he was acting childish, but he was trying to stay away from Mike to focus on the happier times since they were getting married tomorrow. He walked into the bedroom and layed down on the bed.

"Hate him," Mike muttered under his breath, yet he didn't mean it the slightest. He slowly made his way upstairs and sat in the corridor, his head against the wall that separated him from William. I don't even know whose fault it is anymore.

Yet unknown to his fiance, being a vampire, William also had a heightened sense of hearing. And when he heard those words coming ou of Mike's mouth, he picked up a pillow off of the bed and cried into it, allowing the pillow to absorb any sound he made. He curled up, sobbing in utter silence. He really does hate me...

Mike closed his eyes, whispering to himself to keep the little sanity he had left. "Every time I'm worried, every time I try to keep him safe...it always turns against me. I got to be doing something wrong." He sighed and rubbed his eyes tiredly. "Can't help myself. I'd rather be mean than see him suffer."

William continued sobbing in silence, hearing what Mike had just said. He didn't know what to believe anymore. Every once in a while there was the Mike that was happy and wanted to get married and have their children, and even did everything to save William.. But there was also the Mike that had cheated on him in front of him and that reminded him of Ryland in some ways. Still confused, William lay still, his body shaking.

Still in doubt, Mike threw his head back in exasperation - a bit too hard, since it hit the wall with a heavy sound. He cussed and then laughed quietly, embarassed. "Oh well. Like he said, love will conquer everything in the end. I just wish I wasn't so clumsy at loving."

William bit his lip, tryin gto stop his crying. His body stopped trembling but tears still strolled down his face. "Not to mention awkward and violent," he mumbled under his breath, knowing that Mike couldn't hear. He bit his tongue. "But it's not like I've been any better."

"Eventually I'll learn, I suppose. I'll get used to his things. If I wasn't so scared for him all the time maybe I could do something intelligent for once." He raised his hand and looked absent-mindedly at his claws. "And not hurt him. I never wanted to."

William's eyes widened as he listened in, feeling ashamed. He moved his arm up again, moving the sleeves back once more to reveal the uneven scar. Carefully, he scratched his finger nail across it, trying to punish himself for doubting Mike.

Mike stared at the opaque wall in front of him. "But if he keeps hurting himself on purpose, I don't know what I'll do." He hid his face in his arms.

William's eyes widened once more as the words and the blood both flowed into mind. He bit his lip and panicked, jumping out of the bed and running out to where Mike was. He fell to his knees and broke down, watching the blood flow down his arm. "M-Mike...," he sobbed, feeling ashamed and confused.
