Mikey gently touched down in the centre of town, pulling in his wings. He waited for Butcher to land.

"Flatten your feet." Mikey ordered, squinting in the dusk. "Land with your heels, not your toes."

Butcher tried it and landed mostly on his feet. He skipped the few steps separating him from Mikey and hugged his lover carefully.

"You did it." Mikey smiled at him, linking arms with the other avian. "Now. Mhera's."

Mikey bit his lip as he realised Mhera's house was only accessible by alley way. He removed his arm from Butcher's and slipped it around his waist, pulling him as close as he could as he walked towards it.

Butcher remembered how they had gotten to Mhera's place before and took a deep breath, wrapping an arm around Mikey. As long as his lover was with him he was sure he'd be fine.

Mikey led him down the alleyway. "I love you." He whispered tenderly, shifting Nils in his arms.

Butcher remembered the first time Mikey took him to feed and how he had locked up in that alley. He remembered how Mikey had fed him for a moment and the feel of the other Avian's lips for the first time. He smiled slightly as his heartbeat quickened.

Mikey nudged the door with his foot. "Mhera, s'Mikey."

Butcher closed his eyes for a moment, fending off all of the collective bad memories he had formed in alleys.

Mikey leant in and kissed the older man's lips briefly before the door opened and he led his lover into the room.

Butcher smiled slightly, sighing when they were away from the place he hated.

Mhera shot Mikey a look as she led them into the parlour. The younger avian flushed slightly.

"Hello," Butcher couldn't manage much more of a greeting at the moment. He swallowed hard.

Mhera gave him a kindly smile. "What would you two like to drink?" She asked, patting Butcher's hand.

Mikey shrugged. "Same." He agreed. Mhera looked at the two of them shrewdly.
"She's in the kitchen." She said, before walking away.

Butcher turned to look at Mikey, raising his eyebrows, "She...?"

Before Mikey could answer, a little girl the age Angel had been when she died ran into the room, leaping onto him and hugging him hard. "Mind the baby..." He said weakly.

Mikey gave him a bittersweet smile. "She looks like her, doesn't she?" He gently shifted the girl on his lap, moving his son from under her.

"She does... Where did she come from?" Butcher couldn't recall seeing the girl before.

Mikey's smile died. "Apparently, one of the best ways to hurt me would be to kill little girls that look like Angel." He stroked Anielka's hair. "She was the last, and stubborn with it."
