Mike stepped forward. "Ryland!" Fucking tell me already.

The woman stood in Mike's path, but her confidence seemed to be leaving with her leader.

"I'm bored," Ryland smirked at Mike before he disappeared.

The woman audibly squeaked at being left alone sooner than she thought she'd be.

Mike was face to face with the vampire woman. He put his gun under her chin. "I think you owe me a name, miss. Be quick; I wouldn't want to have to ruin that pretty face of yours."

"Chislett," she gasped. "Michael Guy Chislett."

Mike's eyes widened. He grasped the woman's hair and pulled it back, pushing the gun against her throat. "Michael?" he repeated. "Go back to your leader. Tell him that if he dares to touch Michael I'll hunt him and his clan until every single one of you filthy things is dead. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, sir," she whimpered, knowing this was the reaction Ryland had been aiming for. "Wh-what about William?"

Mike pushed the gun further. "What about William? What do you mean, what about William? Are you expecting me to trade him over? If it's the case, your leader is highly mistaken. William stays here with me, and I don't ever want to see one of your clan around him again. Is that clear?"

"Y-yessir. K-keep an eye on him then," she gulped. "Don't l-let him out alone." She hoped that by being helpful he'd let her go so she could run back home. Ryland would probably laugh at her instead of comforting her but it didn't matter.

"I don't intend to." He let her go. "It's a shame you're Ryland's toy. I was starting to like you." He backed away, wanting to watch her leave and really make sure she was gone.

She stumbled in her hurry to get away from Mike as she ran, looking back at him occasionally to make sure he wasn't going to follow.

Mike turned around to enter the house, but found the door locked. He pounded on it with his fist and the handle of his gun. "Butcher, it's Mike. Open!"

"What's the magic word?" Butcher chuckled.

"I've got a weapon," he snapped back, hoping Butcher would realize the gravity of the situation.

The door swung open and Butcher took a step back with his hands lifted up. "Don't shoot me." His wings were withdrawn into his back.

Mike threw his gun on the floor and shut the door behind him. "What do you want first - the good news or the bad news?"

"Bad news," Butcher had cleaned up and taken off his bloodstained hoodie while Mike was outside.

"Ryland is their leader, they still want to kill William, and Michael is their new prey." He crossed his arms. "On the bright side, they don't know you're here."

"Ryland?" Butcher choked on the word. "Are you sure they don't know about me? You don't think they'll go after Sisky do you?"

Mike raised his voice. "Do you ever care about anyone other than Sisky?" he yelled. "We're all risking our lives in this!" Didin't you hear me? They'll have Michael soon.

"Mike, don't yell at him!" William walked into the entry way and stood in front of Mike. "Sisky could possibly be a target too. Knowing Ryland, he isn't going to give you ever little piece of information. You'll only get small bits and pieces," William said as he tried to stand up on his still shaking legs. The voice was finally starting to go away.

"I'm sorry," Butcher looked down at his feet and scratched his head. "He just... When I was... He kept me grounded..."

"I'm sorry, I just...I'm worried for Michael, that's all." He looked down. It's my fault. Without this cursed job he wouldn't even consider taking Michael. I got him in this, now I have to get him out.

William stared at his bandmates and nodded his head in silence. "Butcher, you shouldn't feel bad. We should all be worried for each other. And don't blame yourself, Mike. I'm mostly the one to blame for Ryland looking for Michael...," He said as he stared at the ground. Mike hadn't actually blamed himself out loud, but William could sense what he was thinking about.

"Don't blame yourself," Butcher smiled at William even though he wasn't looking up. "What do we do, Mike? Chizzy's in Australia right? How are we going to protect him?"

"I'm afraid there's not much we can do right now," Mike admitted. "Ryland will be the first to get to him, whatever we do." He wanted to scream. He wanted to tell them, tell them both about everything. He wanted to confess that Ryland was aiming for him through Michael, because of how much he cared for Michael.
