Mikey placed the bucket on the floor and stood awkwardly in the middle of the room.

Butcher closed the door with a sigh and walked over to Mikey, looking down into his eyes and giving him a hug. I hate that we have to be this way, but I want this to work.

Mikey leant his forehead on the other's shoulder, feeling suddenly unbearably sad.

Butcher rubbed Mikey's back in slow circles, kissing the top of his head.

Mikey realised he was crying into Butcher's shoulder. "You don't deserve this." He choked out. "You should find your human."

"I don't want to," Butcher said softly. "And I wouldn't know where to find him anyways."

"I could help you find him." The younger man kept his face hidden, the words killing him inside. "If you wanted to find him, I could help you."

Mikey made a choked sob, moving his head to lean his cheek on Butcher's shoulder, eyes screwed up.

Mikey started to cry harder. "This isn't right. This can't be right." He clutched Butcher tightly. I never want to let go.
