Mikey huddled under his wings, shaking. Fresh tears slowly dropped down his cheeks.

Butcher drew back for one last charge, panting. He closed his eyes as he threw himself at the weakened door.

Mikey jerked his head down as his lover came crashing in.

Butcher blinked when he found himself on the floor and stood slowly, brushing himself off.

Nils rose to his feet and toddled towards Butcher, catching his hand before he fell.

"Daddy." Nils wriggled between them. Mikey didn't move, letting a gasping sob escape his lips.

"Mikey?" Butcher touched the other avian's cheek, carefully not touching his hair.

Mikey's tears hit Butcher's hand. He slowly raised his eyes.

Nils patted his hip. "No sad. Papa hep hug."

Mikey didn't say anything. Suddenly, he collapsed into Butcher's arms, sobbing. Nils squeaked and wriggled out.

Butcher held Mikey close and rubbed his back as he made soothing noises.

Nils toddled back towards the bedroom, looking for his siblings.

Butcher held Mikey close, an eye on Nils until he was out of sight.

Chase shivered slightly in his sleep, all alone on the bed.

Nils clapped his hands. "Burdee!"

Chase opened his eyes at the sound and looked around, face scrunching up when he found himself all alone on the bed.

Mikey slowly stopped crying, still in Butcher's arms.

Nils gave a squeak and grabbed onto the bed, wriggling.

Chase sniffled and looked to see where the noise was coming from, unable to move quite like his siblings.

Chase gurgled happily, pink gums showing as he smiled.

The puppy barked herself awake and Tamsin bounded over the other bed. Nils' eyes widened and he patted her.

Butcher tilted his head so he could look down at Mikey.

Chase's eyes grew wide but he followed Nils' example and petted the puppy as well.
