Ryland chuckled before he exited to walk back to Victoria and Aliceabella.

Mikey stirred. "Wha...?"

"Bad burdee?" Butcher rubbed his eyes and took a closer look at Nils. "Where... did you get that?"

Mikey's eyes fluttered open. He stared at the hair around Nils' neck and froze.

"Bad burdee." Nils sobbed.

Butcher reached and took the hair from around Nils' neck. "How...?"

Slowly, Mikey moved his hand to brush against his short, spiky hair. He screamed.

Mikey noticed the scissors on the floor, shaking. He touched them, and knew instantly. "Ryland." Suddenly, he bolted.

Butcher pulled Nils onto his chest, still blinking. "He never knows when to quit."

Mikey locked the door and slunk down, sobbing into his knees.

"Shh it's okay now," Butcher petted Nils' hair, glad the other children hadn't been disturbed at least.

Mikey reached up to touch his hair again. He didn't know why it affected him so much.

Butcher looked at the auburn hair still in his hand and wondered how long it had taken for Mikey to grow it that long.

Butcher sat up slightly, scanning his eyes over the babies on the other bed before watching the door for Mikey's return.

Nils snivelled, wiping his face on Butcher.

Mikey combed through his hair with his fingers, seeing how short it was.

"He's gone now," Butcher nuzzled into Nils' hair, hoping he was speaking the truth.

Mikey stared at his hair, eyes wide. He touched the back of his hair, remembering the spikey feeling from when Nick used to cut his hair.

"How do you think Daddy's doing?" Butcher sat up a little straighter, cuddling Nils.

"Mikey..." Nick sighed, standing up. "Tom, what did you do to him?" The guitarists exchanged glances, grinning. Mikey shifted in the light. "IT'S BLUE!"
