Keep the things I left behind

Butcher unfurled his wings carefully to make sure he really hadn't injured them in his latest crash.

"I'm fine. I'm just suprised I haven't broken my own neck already." He smiled grimly. He'd been pretty lucky lately.

"It's a good thing you found me," Butcher tested his wings first before attempting to leave the ground. He'd already flown more than he ever had in one day before, and he didn't want his wings to give out on him.

"So far so good," Butcher said when he finally got himself off of the ground.

Butcher dropped to his feet with a little wobble. He took a deep breath. "What's my problem?"

Butcher obeyed. It felt a lot better than the motion he'd been using before.

"A lot better," Butcher closed his eyes a moment, liking the feel of Mikey's hands on his wings. Nobody had ever touched them before. Everyone who had seen them had backed away from them like they were poisonous.

Butcher moved his wing slightly into the contact. He thought it would be funny if he purred but decided against it since he didn't want Mikey to stop.

Butcher blushed and moved his wing a centimeter closer to Mikey, hoping he wouldn't notice.

Butcher sighed with a little frown, practicing a few test flaps of his wings with the corrected angle before wandering out the room. I wonder where he went...

"Eeek sorry!" Butcher closed a door and ran in the other direction, the Avians inside the room chuckling softly behind him. He ran all the way outside before he stopped, blushing in embarrassment.

Since Butcher was out here he decided to test his wings a bit. Going back to the playroom seemed like a waste of time and fresh air was good. He lifted off from the ground and tried to go with air currents like Mikey had told him to do. It felt much better than what he'd been doing before so he decided to fly around the house once just to see how big it was and familiarize himself with it from different angles if he had to find his way back alone.
