The sun is shining and my best friend is pregnant.

"Promise." He smiled, and hoped his eyes wouldn't betray him. "I'll lock the door and bring my key so you don't have to get up."

He left the living room and picked his gun that was still on the floor. Hopefully everything will be fine.

William sat back down on the couch and watched the guitarist as he left the house. "Bye Mike. See you later," he yawned, starting to stroke his stomach again.

"See you," he repeated, his heart heavy from lying. Just before leaving, Mike picked up the notepad and pen that were on the table in the corridor, and scribbled a short note for William.

Don't leave the house, don't unlock the door. I'll be back as soon as I can.

He put the notepad back were it had previously been and grabbed his keys. He walked out and closed the door behind him.

William listened for the door to shut and lock before laying down on the couch and curling into it. He fell asleep quickly, within the first ten minutes of laying there. He didn't understand the sudden wave of exhaustion, so he just guessed it was pregnancy related and slept for both his child and himself.

"Dresden Avenue." Brad looked up at the house. "This must be the place."

He went up to the door and knocked. "Hello?"

William heard the knocking on the door and was hesitant to get up. [/i]Mike said he had his keys...[/i] He walked up to the door quietly, trying not to make a sound. If it was someone else, then he'd need to pretend he wasn't here. But as he looked out the small window on the side of the door, he noticed it was Brad. I can trust him. William opened the door and smiled at the other man. "Hello."

"Hi, mind if I come in William?" He smiled up at the vampire, noticing how scared he looked. "You're not alone are you?"

"Sure, come on in," William smiled at Brad and then looked around outside nervously. I hope he gets back soon. As he led Brad down the hallway and into the living room, he answered the man's question. "Yeah, Mike went to go get soem coffee and other things."

Brad walked in and looked around a bit. "You shouldn't be alone." He didn't know much about what was going on, but that one thing he knew for sure.

William nodded as he led Brad to the couch and motioned for the man to sit down. "I know. But Mike told me to get some rest. He wouldn't let me go with him," William said as he yawned again.

Brad sat down and watched William carefully. "You should rest then. I'll watch over you."

William smiled as he sat down next to Brad. "Nah, as much as I appreciate the offer, I'll be fine," he yawned again and sat back on the couch, inhaling a deep breath as he did so.

"You sure?" Brad looked at him and then started digging through his bag. He was starting to feel a little weak so he should probably eat something.

"Yeah, I'm sure," William said as he stared at the other man. "Are you okay?" He could notice that Brad wasn't feeling as well as he probably could.

"I'm fine," he pulled out an energy bar and unwrapped it. Now was as good a time as any. "I'm diabetic. If I wasn't a drummer I'd probably be out finding a cure."

William smiled. It was nice to see someone with a sense of humor. "Ahh, I'm sorry to hear that. Can I get you anything?" he asked.

"No thanks I'm good." he chewed thoughtfully. "What kinds of diseases can vampires get?"

William tilted his head back in thought. "I'm not sure. I've never really been sick except from a few hangovers," he chuckled as he spoke.

Brad's eyes darted down and he reached out to grab William's arm, turning it to look at the scars. "You still feel pain?"

William kept a small, sad smile on his face as he spoke. "Yes, but only to an extent."

He put his fingers to William's wrist, curious to learn more about vampires and hoping the other man didn't mind. "No pulse I can feel. Do you have one?"

"A very small one. I can only feel it sometimes. Most of the time I can't feel it," he replied, that same sad smile still shaping his mouth.

Mike had found the time to stop by the grocery store on his way home, buying not only coffee but enough food for the week. He unlocked the door, all the bags hanging on his arms, and opened it. "I'm back!"

Brad smiled back, "I'll help make sure no one hurts you again. It was that guy I stabbed right?" His mind was racing. He needed to catch up quick if he wanted to be any help.

William nodded. "Yeah. His name is Ryland," he replied. He jumped as he heard the door open, but calmed down when he heard Mike's voice. "And if you'll excuse me, I think Mike's home," he said while standing up and walking towards the door to greet the guitarist.
