The sun is shining and my best friend is pregnant.

"There's a doctor that does house calls," William said quietly, before giving Mike the number. He layed back down, putting his hand under his shirt and touching his stomach, trying to hold back anything else that tried to come up. As he looked over at what he had just rid himself of, he noticed that most of it was blood. "M-Mike," he studdered, starting to panic.

"This isn't normal. Not normal at all." Mike tried to take deep breaths as he dialed the number William had given him. He was more than grateful when he heard someone's voice on the line. "Hi. My pregnant boyfriend threw up blood. Can someone come over, like, now?" Getting a positive answer, he gave his address and hung up. Hopefully no one knew who he was. "It's gonna be okay, Bill." He doubted it. Please be quick.

William kept feeling the pangs, each getting worse as they passed, most of them taking his breath away momentarily. "Mike, what if something's wrong with the baby?!" William gasped. He kept his hand rubbing his stomach as he stared up at Mike, trying not to panic, but getting more scared as each second passed.

What if something's wrong with you...? "Don't worry." Mike put his hand on William's forehead to see if he had a fever. "Our baby will be fine. Our baby will be perfect." He kissed William's cheek, but didn't manage to seem calm.

"Mike, I'm afraid," William muttered right before another groan escaped. "This isn't normal," he said as tears formed at the edges of his eyes again. "What if we lose our baby?" he whimpered.

"We won't lose the baby," Mike said, his voice shaking. He held William's hand. "But if it happened, I wouldn't love you any less. I'd still want a child with you."

William's body trembled with every pain. He was afraid. He didn't want to lose this child. He wanted to have a family with Mike. "Me too," he whispered right before another pain hit him, causing him to yelp. William couldn't help but to squeeze Mike's hand a little.

Mike jumped when he heard a knock at the door. "The doctor's there, Bill. He'll take care of you." He extended his free arm and turned the handle, thus opening the door. He didn't bother to get up or explain anything. "You'll be okay."

William stared at the doctor with a pained expression. He was more than glad to have the doctor finally be there. Taking deep breaths and rubbing his stomach, William frowned when the doctor spoke. "We'll need to move him onto a flat surface where I can get to him from." William shook his head. "I-I don't think I can walk," he stared up at the doctor. It was taking all that he had not to start crying. This was one of the most painful things he'd had to feel so far.

Mike put an arm under William's back and used the other to support his legs, and lifted him. "The closest is the kitchen table," he told both men, and hurried inside said room. He was glad William hadn't gained too much weight yet. He put him down on the surface, for once empty, and went back to holding his hand. "I'm sorry if this is painful."

William looked up at Mike, his wide, showing that he was scared and in a lot of pain. The doctor followed behind the two men, carrying a rather large bag of medical supplies. He sat the bag down next to William and opened it quickly, sensing how badly the boy was in pain. He quickly pulled on his latex gloves and pulled up William's shirt to reveal his stomach. The doctor inspected it carefully. Everything seemed to look normal, except for the fact that a small object seemed to be moving around, crawling and pushing up the skin of William's stomach as it moved in a small circle. William pulled his head up to look and see if anything was wrong, and nearly fainted when we saw what was happening. He hissed in pain and squeezed Mike's hand a little harder. At last, the doctor finally spoke. "It looks like the body is rejecting the baby."

Mike let go of Wiliam's hand in shock. This can't be happening. Not to him. Not to us. "What is there to do, then?" He feared the doctor's answer. "Please, just - don't hurt William."

William shook his head in disbelief. "No," he whispered. He groaned in pain again and layed still. The doctor touched a spot on William's stomach, which caused the singer to cry out in pain. The doctor nodded in response. "There is one thing I can do," he began quietly. "Since this just began happening, there is still the chance that I can give William a certain doseage of medicine to save both himself and the child. If I don't give it to him now, there's a big chance that you will lose them both." William looked up at Mike helplessly. He didn't know what to do.

"Then do it!" For fuck's sake, why are you waiting? Do it!" Mike was losing his temper. He couldn't bear to see William in such pain, and he'd never get over losing him.

The doctor fumbled at Mike's orders and rushed into his bag, ripping it open again and grabbing the medicine. He poured some into a needle and prepared to inject it into William's stomach. "Before I can do this, I have to have him lay on his side." William did as he was told and goraned as he rolled over onto his side, his head facing Mike. He reached out for the guitarist's hand closed his eyes tight. I hate needles... When William had carefully layed down on his side, it was easier to see that he was close to the stage where he would start showing. The doctor positioned the needle in the desired spot and slowly let the liquid seep in. William hissed, but was soon relieved after the pain slowly started dying down.

"Are you okay? Bill, is it working?" Mike placed his other hand behind William's neck and looked into his eyes. Please be alright. I'd do anything to save you. Anything.

William kept his eyes shut as his breathing started calming down. he squeezed Mike's hand a little as the last pains came and went. He moved one hand to the front of his stomach and exhaled a large breath. The doctor cleaned off the needle and carefully put it back in his bag. "He isn't seizing, so he should be fine. And since you called me early enough, you saved the baby too." The doctor stared down at the now almost calm William and then back up at Mike. "Do you have any idea as to what could have caused this?"

Mike sighed with relief and kissed William's forehead. "I don't know. I'm sorry." Maybe anyone's body would try to reject Ryland's child.

William opened his eyes when Mike kissed him. He was still shaking and still in a little pain, but he felt much better. He stared up into Mike's eyes and kept quiet. "The most common reasons for a vampire to almost miscarry are drinking alcoholic drinks, not getting enough sleep, and not eating enough. In his case, I'd say it's all three," the doctor looked down at William and then back up at Mike again. William slowly nodded his head and stared up at Mike.

"I'll check on him." Mike nodded solemnly. "Thank you so much." Again, I'm in debt. Everyone saves William's life but somehow I can't. He fumbled in his pockets for money, which he gave to the doctor wholeheartedly. He then looked at William and frowned. "You'll eat lunch and then you'll go to sleep."

William closed his eyes and nodded, afraid that Mike was angry with him. The doctor shook his head as he was handed the money. "Keep it. William's a friend," he smiled as he handed the money back to Mike. "As far as anything else goes, if something like this happens again, you know who to call. Make sure he eats and rests enough. Stress also could have added to this, so try to keep him calm. Other than that, he should start showing more soon. If everything is working correctly, he should gain some weight within the next couple days, and then so on and so forth until the child is born," the doctor said as he closed his bag and walked out of the kitchen and into the entrance hallway, carefully dodging the grocery bags as he left and shut the door behind him.

Mike tried to smile to show his relief. "That's what you get for having such a crazy lifestyle. You get fat and have back pains. There." He kissed William's cheek lovingly. "Wait until you can move, and go to the bedroom. I'll make lunch." If I wasn't so scared of sounding cheesy I'd say I couldn't have lived without you, Bill.

William nodded as he sat up on the table, still shaking a little. He carefully slid off of it and began walking down the hallway to the bedroom, not even bothering to pull his shirt down to cover his stomach on the way there. When he reached the bedroom, he slowly climbed into the bed, making sure not to make any sudden movements to cause himself anymore pain. He layed down on his back, pulled the covers over only his legs, and began stroking his still uncovered stomach. He stared down at the small bump thoughtfully and waited for Mike to come back.

Mike fumbled through the grocery bags, too lazy to bring them all in the kitchen just yet. Since William hadn't eaten in a while, he grabbed a box of instant noodles. "Quick and almost healthy." He shrugged, and brought it back to the kitchen. Having no experience in cooking whatsoever, Mike was more than grateful for the bowl-shaped recipient in which the dried noodles were, making his life easier. He left water to boil for a few minutes before pouring it inside the bowl and adding the bright-colored powder that he assumed was the synthetic equivalent of spices. "I can cook," he said to himself, astonished and proud. He pbrought the meal and a spoon to his bedroom.
