"Hatty!" Cyzarine cried, before opening the door and skipping out, presumably to find Hatty. The door banged shut behind her, and the sounds of her skipping down the stairs, calling for Hatty, echoed back up to them.

"What why?" Butcher's eyes widened considerably. It wasn't a question he had been expected to be asked.

Mikey looked down again, before looking at Butcher with tearfilled eyes. "Avians can get pregnant." He said in a choked voice. "You can have children."

"I can?" his voice came out as a squeak and he tried to remember what he'd done in the last couple months. "Fuck. I don't know."

"You don't have to look too far back, you'd be showing otherwise, wouldn't you?" Mikey said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Come on, we better get this medical done."

"It's a good thing I'm not showing. I don't know what I would have done," Butcher muttered glumly and put a hand to his stomach, wondering if there was a baby growing inside it.

"No Avian abortions available, I'm afraid." Mikey gave a forced laugh. "But it's a simple matter." He searched around the study for a bottle of ink. "Dip your thumb in this and press it on this paper for me."

Butcher did as he was told. "Why are you getting a thumb print?"

"I'm a profiler." Mikey sat on the table. "I can tell stuff about you from your finger print. I could track you if I wanted and... we think that it may develop that I can control people through it." He stroked the paper, a thoughtful look on his face. "Nope. You're not pregnant. You're just tired."

"Good," Butcher sighed in relief. "Nothing else...?" He gulped. "No diseases?"

"Wow," Andy took his shirt off quickly. He wasn't embarrased by showing skin. He would have stripped down naked if Mikey asked him too without blushing even a little.

Mikey turned him around, his gentle fingers touching the other man's shoulders. "Retract your wings for me." He said in a softer voice.

"For what?" Mikey traced the scarring with a wince. He looked at the slit where Butcher's wings would appear from, lip sucked in.

"No problem." Mikey traced the wing slits again. "I want to keep an eye on these. They don't look good. But not that bad, just... promising." He hastily added. "Can you show me your wings?"

"Promising?" Butcher turned to face Mikey and let his wings unfurl. "What is that supposed to mean?"

"Not good." Mikey murmured, bending down to see the tips of Butcher's wings. "Like they could become infected, but haven't yet. He sucked in his lip and counted the bottom feathers. "All your pins are still there. That's good." He crossed the room and filled a bucket with water. "You don't mind if I...?"

"G-go ahead," Butcher looked a little scared. "What happens if I lose my pins?"

"You won't be able to fly again. No magical healing can make them grow back." Gently, Mikey began to clean his wings. "Plus, it makes you easier to kill. You see what I did to Robert?"

"Yeah," A chill ran down his spine. Mike hadn't told him about that part either. Was he planning on pulling out Butcher's pin feathers if he had decided he wanted to stay the night after all?

"We can be killed by either being shot through the heart or having our necks broken. Our pin feathers must be pulled out though, otherwise we just lie there in pain for a bit until we can find a healer." Mikey put the water bucket down and drew in his breath.

Butcher put a hand to his neck. He knew Mike had a gun. Was he planning on shooting him? There was so much he didn't know. "Ouch."

"You're a part of the flock now." Mikey reassured him. "You'll be fine." He gently dried Butcher's pin feathers with his hands and breath. "Anyone tell you how beautiful your wings are?"
