Butcher pulled Mikey down on the other Avian's bed to sit with him and took the hairbrush, gently using it on Mikey's hair.

Butcher blushed, stifling a thought and continuing to brush Mikey's long hair silently.

The baby on the other bed started crying - screaming. Mikey didn't move an inch. It was like he could barely hear it.

"Mmm?" Mikey looked up with placid russet eyes. He rubbed his throat. "I think my voice is going."

He really doesn't care for you at all, kid. Butcher untangled himself from Mikey carefully. "Sorry." He went over to comfort the baby.

As soon as his lover moved away, Mikey ran out the door, not stopping to put his shoes on. His bare feet slammed against the rough ground as he ran.

"Mikey!" Butcher took a few steps towards the direction Mikey had run off in but the crying baby in his arms kept him in the room like a tether. "I'm sorry, kid. I'm sure there's still hope for you. Shhh now."

Butcher laid down on the bed and stared at the baby, singing quietly until the child calmed down. "What do I do?"

"I know," Butcher left the nameless baby on the bed for a moment and went to put on a shirt and a hoodie. "I'll ask William. He'll know what to do." He wraped the child in an oversize shirt he had and left the house, taking to the air.
