It won't be alright, despite what they say

William stared up at the sky, his dark eyes solemn. He watched as it began to snow. It's cold like this because he's not here... He continued staring towards the sky, watching as the snow fell gracefully.

Mike kneeled down between the crying baby and the two men. He didn't dare to touch anyone. "Is he really...?" He couldn't finish his sentence. His nails dug in the palm of his hand.

Unable to help herself, Sisky burst into tears. Do you think...?

Ssh. Matt wrapped his arms around her, stroking her hair. He'd never seen anything like this.

Tom sat at the bottom of the stairs, not wanting to go any further. He put his head in his hands and sobbed.

Michael walked over to William.

"Talk to me," Butcher whispered in a choked voice.

The avian didn't respond. Nothing moved. His eyes were dark, a hand still protectively over his stomach.

William didn't shiver; he continued staring at the sky and the snow with dark eyes. He didn't know what to say or do.

"The babies," Mike whispered. "Andrew, maybe we can still save the kids. We have to try." He looked into the Avian's lifeless eyes and shuddered.

Sisky sobbed. Ryland did this didn't he? But his arm is broken.

Ssh... Matt held her tighter, watching the scenario with wide eyes.

"He can't die..." Tom whispered, shaking. "He can't."

Michael shivered as he watched William, unsure if he should touch the vampire or not.

Butcher glared at Mike for suggesting his lover was dead. "Mikey. Come on, Mikey. Wake up."

Mikey stared blankly at Mike, not answering to anything.

Mike wished he had known the right words to tell his friend. "Look, Andrew, I'm sorry...but you have to think...the babies..."

Sisky turned away from Matt to look at her friend. "Butcher," she said in a soft voice.

Matt let her go. He didn't understand what was going on.

"Come on Mikey." Tom whispered. He scampered up the stairs to kneel beside them.

Michael looked up at the sky and shivered, wondering if there was something up there William was staring at.

"The babies are fine," Butcher said in a dark voice. He looked up at Sisky with a strange expression in his eyes, "You too?" He turned to Mike. "If either of you come any closer to him I'll rip your throats out. No one is cutting him open, do you hear me?"

Mikey's body shifted slightly, but it was only Butcher's arms moving.

William continued staring at the sky. His pale skin contrasted with his dark hair and eyes. He watched as the snow fell and landed on everything.

Mike wrapped an arm around Sisky to pull her away. "Butcher, please. I know it's hard... I'm sorry. He's gone. There's nothing you can do."
