Michael pulled out his phone to check and make sure it wasn't on silent. He wanted something to do so it wouldn't seem like he was listening in on Tom's conversation.

Michael's frown deepened, and he wondered what Tom's friend had said.

Tom stared sulkily at his hands, rocking himself back and forwards.

Tom's phone beeped, and he checked the message with a frown. He deleted it and switched his phone off.

It's probably nothing. Michael tried to convince himself to relax.

Michael wandered halfway across the room, turning to look at Tom.

Matt's mind was so clouded with bloodlust that he didn't even register what was going on. He threw himself at the boy and pinned him down, fangs bared.
