Mikey parted Chase's hair, recoiling as he realised his head had been smashed open.

Nils wriggled. "Bad burdee!" He shouted when he saw Ryland.

Nick knelt down beside Mikey. "Oh God..." He whispered, seeing the dead baby.

Ryland frowned as he looked at the scene before him. "You're useless now, aren't you?" he asked as he moved closer to the bed.

"What?" Butcher held Nils close.

Mikey's tears dropped slowly onto the baby's forehead. "I wanted to protect him." He whispered to Nick.

Nils bit Butcher's shoulder with a squeak.

"Healing drains you," Ryland chuckled, moving closer grabbing Butcher by the arm and putting the man's hand on his broken arm above the cast.

Butcher's eyes grew wide as he struggled to stop his power from draining out to heal his enemy.

Mikey continued crying softly, holding his dead son close. "I didn't think it would happen again..."

Nils yelped as Butcher's struggling pushed him away. He glared balefully at Ryland.

Nick made his decision. He tilted his former lover's face towards him. "Mikey. I love you. Please don't ever forget that." He kissed Mikey's lips gently.

Ryland chuckled and pulled Butcher closer to drain the man through the increased contact.

Butcher struggled weakly, looking back to make sure Nils was okay. Probably should have learned to control it sooner.

Nick shrugged awkwardly, his smile sad. He kissed Chase's forehead. "Bye." The shade disintegrated into nothingness.

Mikey watched in shock as Chase's head knitted together. The baby's eyes opened and he wailed silently, exposing pink gums.

Nils glared angrily at Ryland. "BURDEE!" He screamed. As though she understood, Tamsin hopped off the bed in elephant form and charged at Ryland.

Ryland's eyes grew wide in surprise and he threw Butcher to the side to get out of the way.

Mikey gasped as he realised what his dead lover had done. He held Chase tight, soothing him gently.

Nils screamed again. "BURDEE!" Tamsin trampled on Ryland's feet. Zeke wailed loudly to match Nils and sent a tidal wave towards the vampire.

Reve's smile faded when she saw that Ryland looked about to try and hurt her sister and glared at the man.

Tamsin hissed loudly before turning into a snake, wings still attached. She bit the vampire angrily.

Mikey kissed Chase's bloodstained hair, before looking down at the boy's malformed legs.
