"Well..." Michael shrugged. "If we keep going we'll pick up the right way eventually."

Michael sighed. "Just trust me. Everything will be fine." He continued walking.

Tom rolled his eyes. "Is "fine" Australian for "I'm going to kill you in your sleep"?"

Michael just gave Tom a look and turned to check the road signs.

Michael sighed again in exasperation and took a close look at the buildings and people they passed to get a feel for the state of things in Chicago. He noticed several individuals who were definitely not human walking around in broad daylight. Kaulitz was right.

Tom frowned. He wasn't getting the reaction he wanted. He chewed his lip, trying to think of how he could spark a better reaction.

Ryland walked through the city freely. As long as he didn't show his fangs no one found anything out of the ordinary about him.

Ryland stopped when his ears picked up a familiar voice. He grinned and headed towards his victim from before his arm was broken.

"Hmm?" Michael turned around and saw a vampire approaching over Tom's shoulder. "We've got to go..."

Ryland noticed Michael's trouble in getting Tom to move and smirked as he picked up his pace. This was going to be easy.

Michael's eyes widened a little when he realized who was coming towards them. "We really have to get out of here. It's Ryland."

Tom froze, wide grey eyes staring at Michael. His breathing quickened.
