Your eyes

Aliceabella sighed in annoyance and hitched Vlad up in her arms, trying not to drop the book at the same time. Vlad gurgled happily, snuggling into his mother.

Ryland opened the door to his room, a hand on his broken nose.

Aliceabella let out a small growl of frustration as she dropped the book, grabbing it off the floor and tucking it under her arm.

Ryland grabbed and old shirt and pressed it to his face to stop the blood flow.

Aliceabella frowned as she walked along the corridor, realizing that she'd gotten lost again. "Damn." She muttered quietly so Vlad wouldn't hear. She smiled upon realising she was by the nursery and went in to leave Vlad there for a little, considering she didn't have a crib for him.

Ryland walked into the bathroom and lowered the towel to check the damage in the mirror. He frowned as he realized he'd have to move the bones back into place.

Aliceabella stepped back into the corridor, trying to figure out where he room was. "Damn my lack of direction..." She muttered.

Ryland groaned as he set his nose back into place with another crack.

Aliceabella began walking down the corridor slowly, brow furrowed in concentration.

Ryland looked at the results in the mirror with approval.

Aliceabella looked up at the room numbers and sighed in frustration.

Ryland sighed when he realized he should go for actual medical help and left his room.

Aliceabella looked up as she noticed a door opening further down the corridor. "Excuse me," she walked a little faster, "Can you help me find my-" She stopped when she saw who it was.

Ryland stared blankly for a moment, "Aliceabella."

Aliceabella frowned, noticing his nose. She automatically went to ask what had happened, but stopped herself quickly and remained silent.

Ryland sighed and checked his arm to make sure it was clean before hooking it around her and pulling her into the room.

Aliceabella blinked in surprise, making sure she had a secure grip on the book.

Ryland looked at her and pulled away once he had her in the room. "You're pregnant?"

"Yes." Aliceabella whispered, fiddling with a strand of material on her sleeve.

"In that case I have certain responsibilites to take care of you and the child," Ryland cleared his throat, hoping that Aliceabella would get the hint without him having to say more.

Aliceabella frowned, not fully understanding. "Such as?..."

Ryland stared at her for a moment, "Providing for both of you? Protecting you? If you have a son he could be raised to be my heir."

Aliceabella nodded, "Thank you." She sighed in annoyance as she dropped the book.

Ryland bent and picked the book up for her, holding it out silently.

Aliceabella smiled and took the book from him, tucking it back under her arm. She looked at the ground, unsure how to proceed.
