Nils giggled again and began to crawl as fast as he could down the hallway.

"Nils!" Butcher looked at Mikey helplessly, wondering why the hatchlling liked to be chased so much.

Mikey scrunched up his face childishly and darted after the giggling boy. He picked the wailing child up.

Butcher poked his head out of the room to see if they were coming back or moving somewhere else.

Gently, Mikey put Nils on his feet, taking the boy's little hands. Nils looked up at him with wide eyes before running to the bathroom.

Butcher clapped his hands. "You're such a smart boy, Nils." He grinned proudly.

"Hmm," Butcher watched to make sure the hatchling didn't get holes in it, wrinkling his nose slightly at the discoloration that meant some drool was left behind.

There was a tearing sound and Nils looked up in shock, the hem of the t-shirt sticking out his mouth. Mikey giggled. "Don't eat that honey."

"Afraid that was going to happen," Butcher gently removed the fabric from the little boy's mouth.

Nils stared at his papa. He started wailing loudly, his father picking him up to soothe him.

"What's wrong?" Mikey crooned, stroking his hair. Nils gulped tearfully.
"Pa-pa!" He sobbed. "Papaburdee!"

Butcher smiled, "It's okay Nils. Papa's not angry; he can get a new shirt anytime but not a new Nilsy."

Nils stopped wailing, mouth parted, tears still drying on his cheeks. He reached out a hand to pat Butcher's cheek.
