William petted the little girl's head, his small, sad smile still the same. He tried to cheer up for the girl's sake but couldn't.

Butcher looked around and breathed deeply. He tried solving some simple problems in his head before he smiled. "Thanks."

William adjusted his arms so that he was able to hold Angel. He bit his lip. "Something happened to Butcher and your dad," he whispered softly, still unable to cry.

"Oh good." Nick slipped off his lap. "It worked." he bit his lip. "And because Mikey probably won't say anything, thanks for screwing up your brain to try and save him."

Butcher sighed in relief when he realized Nils wasn't holding a rattle and cuddled the baby closer to his chest. "What did you say to me? Not that it matters..."

"Nice, Mike." Butcher grumbled and looked down at Nils. He petted the little boy's cheek with his index finger. "Not so tough without your weapon of choice are you, little boy? Ow fangs! You don't feed on me, Nils."
