& I'm not proud that nothing will seem easy about me

Mike's eyes went from Nick to Matt. He had let William touch him; he must not have been feeling well at all. "Something wrong?" he said so quietly it was almost a whisper.

"Hey, look, the window's open!" Mikey grabbed the bags again and quietly flew up. He fell into the room. "Uhh... oops."

"Are you okay, Mikey?" Butcher smiled and bent to help the clumsy avian with his bags and Nils.

"Umm..." Nick folded his lips together. "I guess I could have a look. And Mikey could have a go, if he's back."

Matt looked at his father calmly, trying to figure out what to say. Lonely. He eventually settled on.

William nodded in response to both men. He looked over at Nick. "How would we go about checking?" he asked. He then casted his gaze over at Mike, giving him a kind look that meant he was dealing with Matt. He then looked back down at Matt and smiled softly. His thumb rubbed over the other vampire's cheek. Do you want to leave soon?

Mike nodded, now fully attentive to what Nick would say.

"I think so..." The avian flushed, rubbing a hand across his bearded chin. "I need to shave. I feel like one of the seven dwarves."

Butcher cupped Mikey's cheek in his hand, "Sorry."

"Mikey would do some random profiling stuff." Nick wrinkled his nose. "All I'd be able to do is look and see if it's similar."

Matt shook his head sullenly. It's warm here.

William nodded. "Either one works for us. We were just wondering so we could try and figure out how long before they're born." He looked back down at Matt. Do you like it when it's warm?

"I think," Mike mentioned, "that if the babies are part avian, it would automatically take less time - egg or not. Well, that's what just I think." He shrugged.

Mikey flushed and looked away. "S'ok." He murmured, not meeting Butcher's eyes.

"Mikey?" Butcher tilted Mikey's head towards his and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips. "I love you." He smiled, hoping it would show he wasn't angry. "Bill and Mike are still here with William's um... son Matt."

Nick raised an eyebrow, guessing at an alterior motive. Angel yawned and curled up on William's lap.

Matt nodded slowly. No one's angry here. No one hurts each other.

William smiled at Angel in his lap. He ran his hand through her hair and looked back over at Matt, his other hand still rubbing the skin on the vampire's cheek softly. I promise I'll try everything to make you feel safe. What happened today at Mike's house has never happened before. I promise. I'll make sure you feel safe.

Mike wondered what the two vampires were talking about. William was amazing - his features were sot, and he could tell he was reassuring. I wish I were more like him.

"Matt?" Mikey's eyes widened. "I'm not going down there." He shook his head, suddenly trembling. "I'm not going down there!"

Butcher pulled Mikey close and made soothing noises. "What's wrong Mikey? Is it Matt? What did he do?"

Nick raised an eyebrow. "You stole my daughter." He mumbled, pouting.

Matt nodded slowly, William's touch soothing to him. But why is it so different? Vampires and avians aren't that different, why is the behaviours so?

William grinned over at Nick, his hand still running through Angel's hair. "She's really cute when she's tired," he said softly, noticing that the girl's eyes were nearly shut. He turned back to Matt. It's Ryland that has made everyone that way. If we can find a way to get rid of him, then the vampires could be this peaceful.

Mike smiled when he saw how peaceful and serene Angel looked. "Your daughter is beautiful, Nick," he plainly stated.
