Mikey left the pile of clothes where they were and wandered into the bathroom. He ran a bath and knelt down beside it, putting his son in the water.

Butcher wandered, listening mostly for the sound of Nils chattering or roaring.

"Nils get clean." Mikey said softly, tipping warm water over his son. Nils blinked his eyes closed sulkily.

Butcher poked his head into a few familiar rooms as he wandered around, trying to remember what Mikey might need to do.

Mikey rubbed soap into Nils' scalp firmly but gently. The boy wailed in displeasure.

Butcher smiled to himself and turned around to head towards the sound of Nils' crying.

Nils shook his head frantically, splaying Mikey with water. The older avian blinked.

Butcher entered the bathroom and put a hand over his mouth to stifle his laughter at the scene before him.

"Don't encourage him." Mikey pushed his wet hair out his eyes. He continued scrubbing at Nils' hair, noticing how long it was getting.

Butcher dropped his hand and took a deep breath to avoid laughing. "Eyes in the back of his head," he mumbled and moved closer to watch.

"Nope, just very good hearing." Mikey took one of his son's wings in his hands.

"Works better," Butcher shrugged. "You'd get hair in your back eyes."

"As well as my front eyes." Mikey adeptly rubbed soap into the downy fluff, ignoring Nils' wails.

"It's not that bad," Butcher looked down at Nils, forgetting the danger of being slashed to lean down to look at the hatchling.

Nils wailed and splashed heavily, soaking both his parents.

Butcher wiped face on his arm, "You really don't like baths do you?"

"Does he like anything?" Mikey muttered, moving onto the other wing. "Stay still!"

"Smacking people with his rattle," Butcher wondered where someone so small got his strength from.

"Yes..." Mikey squeaked as Nils bit his hand.

Ruthless... Butcher was glad there was no rattle or bath toy in sight.

"There." Mikey sat back on his haunches. "All clean. Like a good boy."

Butcher retrieved towels to dry both Nils and his lover with.

Nils glared at them balefully as Mikey lifted him out the water.

"You'll be dry soon," Butcher promised and held out a towel for Nils.

Mikey vigorously rubbed Nils clean, before putting him down on the towel.
