Ryland paused at a corner and picked a street to walk down that he felt would take him closer.

"Don't say that," Sisky looked at Tom seriously. "If that's all he's looking for it's not worth it. You're perfectly fine."

Caitlyn clutched Matt's hair in her fists and looked around with bright eyes, "Ingah!"

Ryland spotted Matt as he scanned the road in front of him and paused before switcing directions. As soon as he noticed the baby his eyebrows raised.

Sisky patted Tom's cheek with a smile. "You can't help that you're injured but other than that you're a great guy."

Ryland picked his pace up a little so he could catch up with Matt, watching curiously as the vampire took care of the small child.

"Eww," Sisky couldn't help but frown. "He can't take you if you're here."

Caitlyn looked around everywhere curiously and noticed Ryland. Recognizing the man as someone who hurt her Dadee she patted Matt's head to get his attention.

Ryland grinned to himself as he watched.

"Really?" Sisky blinked then huffed and mumbled, "Ryland can't take you if he's been squashed to death."

Caitlyn squeaked and waved her arm in her grandfather's direction.

Ryland chuckled and looked around for Caitlyn's mother.

Sisky blinked. "Then why was he staying over here? Matt is a vampire, and Caitlyn and me aren't human either."

Caitlyn squeaked again in surprise.

Ryland raised his eyebrows. "Out alone?"

Sisky hugged Tom, "I'll get to the bottom of this."

Caitlyn nuzzled into Matt uncertainly, staring at Ryland with huge eyes.
