Mike pouted. He gestured for Michael to come out of the house. "Dude, we need to talk. Can I steal you for a minute?"

"Okay," Michael didn't bother prying Tom from his back and walked out of the house.

Mike led Michael further away from the door, almost on the street. He cleared his throat but kept his voice lowered. "The kid with you. He hasn't been formed to be a protector. He's a hunter, isn't he?" he asked bluntly.

"Uh Mike he attached himself to my back." Michael looked down to see if Tom was still there.

Mike shook his head and chuckled. "You're still so...Australian. I'm subtle enough not to say this in front of him." He gestured at the boy momentarily hiding behind the doorframe, realizing it wasn't the one he'd met earlier but refused to stray from the questions he wanted to ask Michael. "So, am I right? He's here to kill vampires?"

Michael shrugged. "I was told we were here to get the situation under control..."

Mike sighed. Michael was probably too naive to give him information. "There's something bothering me with all this. I don't know, it's...sudden? Deciding the job wasn't mine anymore like I was completely out of this." He shrugged. "Forget it, I'm probably just being paranoid."

Mike nodded. He turned to look at the open door again. "Dude, we should go back in. That kid's going to faint on the spot if you don't protect him from...uh...what's he afraid of anyway?"

Mike shrugged. "Whatever. We should get inside. I've secured my marriage; I don't want to leave Bill alone for too long." He walked back into the house.

Tom poked his head around the door, waiting for Michael to come back. He squeaked when he realised he was being watched and hid again.

Mike stared at the boy as he stepped inside. "So you're Tom?" He held out his hand.

"Ah, then you haven't been introduced yet...I'll do the presentations." He grinned. "Don't get fooled by the fangs, he's incredibly sweet. He hates blood. So do I." He grimaced.

Tom's eyes widened. He suddenly ran back to the bathroom and bolted the door, before being violently sick in the toilet.

Mike blinked, standing still for a moment. "Uh....what just happened?" He considered that Tom might have been scared of blood. He decided to see if he was alright, and knocked on the bathroom door.

"Y-yeah?" Tom wiped his mouth and flushed the toilet. His hair flickered black as he opened the door.

Mike took a step back. "Your...hair," he simply said, hoping the boy would understand.
